ACT 4: A MODERN ADAPTATION
A modern-day couple, Mr. and Mrs. Macduff, struggle with marital issues. The husband walks out on the wife without a word, leaving her the responsibility of their child. Mrs. Macduff laments all this as her good friend, Ross, attempts to comfort her. Despite his best efforts, Mrs. Macduff insists that her husband is dead to her, and tries to force her son to think in the same manner. However, her son cleverly refuses to see the situation from her point of view.
As Mrs. Macduff is speaking her her child, a neighbor comes to warn her about a suspicious man creeping around the neighborhood, looking for Mr. Macduff. This greatly worries his wife and she fears for her safety. Then, the man breaks into the house, demanding to know where Mr. Macbeth is. When Mrs. Macbeth cannot tell him, he murders her child, forcing her to flee her home.
